Former Indian cricketer RP Singh is set to leave the Indian Premier League 2021 commentator’s bio-secure bubble after his father was tested positive with COVID-19. There has been a recent upsurge in the number of cases of COVID-19 in India which has now put the 14th edition of the cash-rich league under some threat.

RP Singh, who is a World Cup-winning player, has been involved in several media commitments since his retirement in 2018. The former fast bowler has been contracted with Star Sports for appearing in the Hindi broadcast and coverage of the IPL 2021. Along with the players, commentators and broadcasters also have to stay inside a bio-secure bubble.

As per CricTracker’s understanding, the former Indian pacer will be leaving the bubble for some time as he goes back home to be with his family. His father being tested positive with COVID has brought a lot of stress to the family, which has forced him to return home, cutting off his media contract with Star Sports temporarily. He could return to the bubble once things are okay, but there hasn’t been anything reported on that.

Before this Ravi Ashwin and four other Australians pulled out of the IPL 2021

As the second wave of coronavirus continues to have large effects on the country, there have been some effects of it on the players and people involved in the IPL 2021 as well. A few days back, Delhi Capitals and India team spinner Ravi Ashwin decided to pull out of the tournament to be around his family during these tough times.

In the past seven days, there have been close to 3.2 lakhs of COVID cases each day reported in India, which is an all-time high considering the numbers which had been racked during the first wave. Some of the Australian players also decided to leave the IPL and go back home as their country suspended all passenger flights running from India to Australia.

Rajasthan Royals players Liam Livingstone and Andrew Tye were the first to announce their decision of flying back home. Soon after that, Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa who play for Royal Challengers Bangalore also decided to take a flight back home but got stuck for some time in Mumbai. All the flights between Australia and India have been suspended till May 15.
