Today, on #TeachersDay I am happy to announce a new initiative - the development and upgradation of 14,500 schools across India under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-Shri) scheme. These would become model schools that would embody the full spirit of the National Education Policy.
PM-Shri Schools will have a modern, transformative, and all-encompassing approach to educating students. The focus will be on the discovery-oriented, learning-centered method of teaching. Additionally, emphasis will be laid on modern infrastructure, such as the latest technology, smart classrooms, sports, and more.
The Prime Minister said that the National Education Policy has recently transformed the educational sector and I am confident that PM-Shri Schools will continue to benefit millions of students across India in the spirit of NEP.
The Centrally Sponsored Scheme will be implemented by improving existing schools selected from schools run by the Central Government, States, Union Territories, and local bodies.
PM-Shri schools will serve as model schools, showcasing every aspect of the National Education Policy 2020, act as role models and also provide mentorship to other schools in their locality.
