Jonty Rhodes, the former South African cricketer, is known for his fielding skills. Even after more than a decade following his retirement, his agility on the field hasn’t gone down. The veteran is currently the fielding coach of the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and his influence has rubbed off positively on the team.

Back in 2020, Nicholas Pooran saved a six at the boundary by jumping over the ropes in a match against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The effort is being deemed as one of the best in the history of the T20 championship.

Recently, Rhodes posted a picture where he developed bruises on his legs while trying to demonstrate how to dive. He posted a picture of the same on his official Twitter handle.

He took to Twitter and wrote, “Note to self: while demonstrating how to slide during @PunjabKingsIPL fielding practice, please wear long pants #grassburn #sticktosheets #SaddaPunjab.”

Here’s Jonty Rhodes’ post

In their previous game, PBKS beat the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 34 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Harpreet Brar stood out for his team after playing a cameo with the bat and then picking up three wickets of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers.

KL Rahul, the PBKS skipper, was over the moon after Brar and his team’s performance on Friday, April 30. “We were preparing Brar. On a pitch like this, we felt like we needed a finger spinner who could hit hard lengths.

“He did exactly that and batted really well in the end as well. I am young myself, but I have been trying to speak to the boys and pass on whatever experience I have of IPL and international cricket,” Rahul was quoted as saying after the match.

“They are blessed with enormous talent and we have to prepare them for the situations and the pressures they’d face in the middle as the captain and the support staff. Really makes me and the support staff very happy,” he added.

PBKS are next set to face Delhi Capitals (DC), captained by Rishabh Pant, on Sunday, May 2 in Ahmedabad itself.
