Mumbai Indians (MI) is the most successful franchise in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) having won the title a stunning five times in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. Thus, over the years, the franchise has gained immense support from all over the cricket fraternity along with many die-hard fans and followers.
However, with success and fame, one gains some haters and critics. The same is the case for the defending champions as they too have trollers and haters who try to bring the team or the players down. On Saturday, May 1, New Zealand’s veteran left-arm seamer Mitchell McClenaghan hosted a Question and Answer session on his Twitter handle where he answered a variety of questions related to his personal and professional life.
Meanwhile, a Twitterati tried to bring Mumbai Indians down saying, “Mumbai UMPIRE Indians”. Many people in the past have tried to bring the franchise down by saying that their matches are fixed as they have the umpires on their side. Mitchell took note of the tweet and gave a savage reply to the netizen by saying, “Who do you support? One of the other less successful franchises?”

Mitchell McClenaghan made his IPL debut for MI
One noteworthy point here is that Mitchell McClenaghan is an ardent supporter of the five-time champion and has often defended the franchise on social media platforms. The 34-year-old made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with Mumbai Indians and represented the franchise throughout his career in the T20 extravaganza.
In his six-year-long stay at the Mumbai Indians, McClenaghan picked 71 wickets in 56 matches at an economy rate of 8.49. He was also associated with the team in IPL 2020, hosted in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), but was made to warm the bench in the entire season. The New Zealand pacer was released ahead of the current season by the Indians but didn’t find a buyer in the auction and went unsold.
Meanwhile, Mumbai is experiencing an average run in IPL 2021. They started off their campaign in the T20 Championship with a loss against Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB). The same was followed by the franchise scripting an amazing comeback and emerging victorious against KKR and SRH. However, they again lost to Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings but followed it with wins against Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. Thus, the franchise has four wins from seven matches under their belt.
